Too short?
See, now you did it... Prefer long handles.

This is Korean actually - ended up bending mine but it is a great shape.

Also check out the Kusakichi (I love the M, haven't tried the V). Japanese forged with a knife edge.

Bachi Gata - no long handle but super effective. I have a similar one with a mid-length handle and a much bigger head as well, and that is a super power-house. Those are a little hard to find.

Hori Hori for an actual digging knife.

Bunch of other good options.

I have a curiosity about Loveless and his knives. I have a book by him and I've watched the videos of him on YouTube.  He's certainly a character who had an interesting life.  I probably wouldn't like him much if I had the opportunity to meet him but that doesn't mean that I can't appreciate what he did.

What's inspiring about him is that he was very ambitious from the beginning and he was always looking at his process to make the best knife possible.

I'm not sure how he got so much attention and notoriety (he was very popular in Japan, even).  Iirc, prices went crazy for his knives because he chased the secondary market, which a lot of knife makers say not to, which is interesting.  He was also into cars and guns (He even did some custom gunsmithing.)

I'd like to handle some of his knives, just to experience it for myself, because they don't do much for me visually.  I'm curious if there's something more there once you handle one.

That handling part is and always has been a big part of it.

He actually despised the collectible aspects of his knives and made working works of art for working people.

The first 1911 I ever bought (Springfield long before they went 'tard) would send round EVERYWHERE but the target. Stepdad didn't quite believe me so he grabbed it and proceeded to shoot the ground about 15 feet in front of us when aimed at a chest-height target about 10 yards away. It was scary inaccurate.
