Now it has 120k and so far its has had New starter (expected) New battery (expected) New intake manifold after the plastic nipples cracked New evaporator after some codes thrown Head skimmed after broken return line (this return line has been replaced 4 times. Once by dealer and 3 times by me.they just seem to rot away at the plug Turbo return line broke, new head gasket again and new head New water pump New thermostat New water inlet housing New front main seal since it was opened up All new rubber New coolant reservoir New ignition New plugs 2 sets of new head bolts 2 new main crakshaft pully bolt New turbo oil feed pipe Now for the second head job. Get it back together, after a few beers. Forget that the oil plug isnt tight. And have a broken turbo oil feed pipe and all my oil pissed out, then the return hose after the thermostat pops off and coolant everywhere and its starting to get up there in temp. 240* and i shut it off. Refill the coolant and bleed it, new oil. Starts right up. No over heat. Drive a few miles at 25mph no issues. Get back and see check engine light on, look up codes. P0016 and P0017. I am hoping that they are due to no oil but am afraid my chain jumped a tooth. The car runs fine and starts fine. This car was supposed to go to my oldest but am afraid to let her drive it while she is away at school. I dont want her to get stuck.

2003 Jetta - had a crank position sensor go at 125k miles. Fixed it myself in a few hours. Sold it and its still driving
2013 Jetta - 60k miles and nothing but gas and oil changes 2007 4runner 4WD 150k miles replaced an alternator. A dash light just went out. 2007 Ford Focus 30k miles rattled, burned oil, hard started with a new battery and plugs. Had to replace the fuel filter, radiator hose cracked. I sold it at a loss a year later. I consider myself pretty lucky with vehicles. Wife was considering a 13 Cruz when we bought the Jetta lol |

My mom has, and insists on keeping, a 2006 Cobalt, which is a giant pile of shit. Its at about 100k, and sounds like a vw microbus full of feral cats and empty beer cans.
Its easily into $1500 a year in repairs. My dad and I refuse to work on it, and make her take it to a good local mechanic. Said local mechanic bought a huge, pricey, boat and is running a Lake Erie walleye charter business on the side. I'm absolutely certain that damn cobalt bought his boat. |

My 09 Forester has 160k on it and I think the driveshaft carrier bearing is bad. Been trying to diagnose a funky noise and arrived at that. Also, the seat is uncomfortable. Kinda pissed the bearing isn't replaceable. I think Subaru is starting to go downhill too with their bitch as commercials and no longer offering turbos

2009 Toyota Venza, 164K miles-
1 battery 1 water pump 1 traction sensor 2 sets of tires 1 set of rear struts because I was hit in the rear and it tweaked them. Mine is AWD but they stopped making them. Maybe you can find one slightly used or find a Lexus RX 350. |

Dad had a 2001 Silverado that he was putting a quart of oil in every couple thousand miles. When I learned this, I asked him why it was burning so much oil. He says, "Well, it has 100,000 miles on it, son, it's gonna burn oil."
At the time I was driving a 1998 Toyota T100 with about 250,000 on the odometer. Drove it for 15 years and had to replace a couple of coil packs, the ignition switch, and a new radiator after road debris cracked it. Best vehicle I've ever owned. His Silverado was three years newer and the interior looked 10 years older, between the rapid deterioration of the shit-tier materials and dated-as-fuck styling. |

My son had a Cruze, forget the year. It was a great car. His buddy liked it so much, he bought a near identical one.
Driving home from work in his Cruze one night, at the posted 60mph speed limit, a small buck ran into the road and he hit it. Totaled the car, deer was DRT, but my son was uninjured. The impact destroyed the front end. A state trooper happened to be coming from the opposite direction and witnessed the whole thing. Shook my son up enough that he now drives a truck. No more small cars for him... |

My first car was a ‘73 Vega. There are books written on that piece of shit. “Buy American!”
I traded it in on a Plymouth Horizon K-car. “Buy American” they said. It died every so often and one of the rear windows fell inside the door before it had 500 miles on it. I traded that in on a VW air-cooled micro bus. Oh, what a fuckmobile. Nothing was engineered for driving in Merica. I traded that in on a Plymouth Grand Voyago with the self-destructing, solenoid-shift transaxle. Nonetheless, I did put nearly 300k on it. I traded that in for a 6 pack of beer. I then won a ‘99 Miata in a sales contest and drove it for 217k miles until just too many wear items began to wear out. Replaced it with a used 2000 Chrysler Sebring....a hand-me-down from Mrs Rabinowitz since she bought the ‘12 Cruze. I gave a Sebring away (it always ran fine) to a kid who desperately needed a car for work. I got the Cruze when she bought an ‘18 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0T Ultimate. She loves it. I am more than satisfied with the Cruze. |

My mom had a mid 90's Chrysler caravan.
It was the single largest pile of shit ever made. the transmission was replaced 3 times for leaking, the windows never sealed, wind noise like mad, the sliding door rattled so fucking bad we went on a trip to CA as kids and me and my brothers would take turns laying on the middle seat pushing on the door with our feet to stop the rattling, the radio would change stations at random, and when it did this you couldn't change stations or shut it off just raise and lower the volume.. CEL's they couldn't fix anywhere. it was non stop. she only had it 3 years before the transmission went out again, no more warranty left I remember the sales man at the dealer trying to show my parents the new intrepid or some shit, my pops looked at him and said "I wouldn't take another pile of fucking shit chrysler for free" she bought a passat and had 140k on it when she traded it in for an A4... which got hit and was totaled at 110k.. replaced with another A4 she put 100k on before wanting something bigger and buying an Atlas. |

The first A4 also needed upper control arms (same as passat they hated washboard roads) but I had just did the timing belt when some jack ass blew the light at mountain and sb frontage. |
