Archer Gets A Brand New Spy Car |

My first car was a '78 'doba. It had a huge back seat. Lots of fond memories of that car, especially when I could get it started.
Not my car, but mine looked a lot like this one with slot mag wheels. Attached File |

My first car was a 1978 Cordoba. Learned how to work on cars because everything in that car broke. Was a nice ride when it did not overheat. Had the 360 with a thermoquad. What a pain to adjust that thing.
Turns out my car was a hodgepodge of model years and versions. Had the 3 speed auto out of a 77, , radiator from the V6, A-pillars and brakes from a police version (listed in the parts manual), belts from a 79 and 76, etc. Loved that car. Had to get rid of it because the vinyl top eroded and the body rust was to much to repair. |

Quoted: I wonder if it was just a name they made up for the color. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Corinthian leather was a term made up for marketing purposes. I think the actual leather used was made in New Jersey. I've never heard of the factory. However, there are some good tanneries in the U.S.A. I wonder if it was just a name they made up for the color. It wasn't the color. Corinthian leather was just a clever marketing tool to make it sound more expensive than it was. In reality, it was the same leather from the same NJ tannery that Chrysler had been using for years. It just received a fancy new name to make it sound upscale. Can't have Montalbán extolling the virtues of Jersey leather. |

So, was Corinthia a city, or a country?
And exactly where was Corinthia located? Can't find it on Google earth... |

I worked with a dude that had a green Cordoba. Green inside and out. He bought it from a car dealer he had worked for. He said it was about to have a birthday at the dealership, and they sold it to him below cost. It was one ugly fucking car.

Quoted: How did this become a tacked thread? View Quote My grandfather was a sales exec for Chrysler Corporate back in the 60's and 70's. Always had a brand new version of whatever they were selling. Don't think he ever had a car that had more than a few thousand miles on it. Had a fully loaded Cordoba when they hit their popular phase. I remember the smell of corinthian leather on a hot sunny day. |

We had one.
None of you must remember that the taillight lenses would fall out after a couple of years. Just about every Cordoba I saw in the 80s was missing at least one if not both taillight lenses. It was because Chrysler glued them in instead of using screws to hold them in and the glue would fail after a few years. |

A guy at work has a Cordoba.
But as I walked past it, I noticed it had cloth seats (velour, to be precise) I left a note the next day: “No Fine Corinthian Leather? Fail!” |

I miss the old cars we had growing up..'71 Skylark, '74 LeMans, '77 Impala. At least when they ran.

Some bean counter at Chrysler probably figured out that they could save half a cent by using Elmer's glue inside of the cheap unplated pot metal screws they typically used. |

Tacked thread for malaise era shitpile cars?
Might as well do one for Yugos and Trabants too. |

A sticky for ugly ass cars?
The parents had a Cordoba back in '70 or '71. Thought it was an ugly car then. Mind hasn't changed. |
