I had a little Pajero exactly like this! The headlight relay was wonky so I’d have to whomp the fender like an old jukebox to make it work. People always got a laugh out of that. It was an awesome little buggy.

1968 Mustang convertible. It sounds cool, but it would suck because:

1. 4-wheel drums with manual brakes meant you were in danger of breaking the seat back when you stomped the shit out of the brake pedal to (eventually) slow down.
2. No air conditioning + black vinyl top and seats = oven. In Houston area = furnace. One of my friends actually got blisters from it on a sunny day.
3. Manual steering with a giant wheel like a school bus. The steering was so sloppy that you had to swing the steering wheel 6” back and forth just to go straight.
4. No heat because the heater core was bypassed. Plus, this equalizes the lack of AC to make both hot and cold weather suck.
5. You couldn’t see very well because the windshield was pitted.
6. Good luck in an accident, because all you had were lap belts and low back seats without headrests.
7. Bias ply tires. The handling was already horrible, so why not make it worse?
8. Noisy and had shit AM radio with super cheap $19 a pair Sparkomatic speakers. At the age I am now, I wouldn’t be able to understand a single thing on the radio.
9. Water Leaks because convertible.
10. The electrical system sucked with constant shorts, burned out lights, and wonky switches. Driving at 2:00 am in the middle of no where is a great time for the headlights to quit.

Today’s cars are so much better. I wouldn’t drive another 1960’s Mustang even if it was perfectly restored to factory new condition.

Edit to add: In 2004 Uncle Sam sent me on an Iraqi vacation. I didn’t want either of my sons to ever drive the POS, and knew my wife would be sentimental about selling the car we dated in. It had thrown a rod and was a complete rust bucket best suited as a parts car for someone building a convertible from a hard top. I called up Big John’s Mustang parts in Houston and sold it to the guy that answered the phone for $1.00 on the condition that he pick it up the following day.

Wouldn't bother me. Gets me back & forth to work. Now if I had to drive my first tractor for a year...that thing tried to murder me daily.

Fun besides knowing my mechanic really well b/c it had high mileage. 1.5bar of turbo was a blast. Sure wasn't the sexiest car though

That's pretty funny. The gas gauge on mine was busted so I had to reset my trip meter every time I'd fill up and get gas around 150 miles.

2002-2004 timeframe, I could fill up for like $9 total.

My first car was a 1977 Ford Pinto my dad bought at the County auction. I still have dreams where I find this car and get it running again.

Hec, why not I would drive it for a year just for the nostalgia of it. Wouldn't be very practical compared to my pickup though.

If it was just for going back and forth to work I would probably dig it for nostalgia’s sake

. Anything longer than an hour in the car might lead me to parking it with the keys in it and walking away

Didn’t care for it too much at the time, but it looks cool to me now

The Chevy 250 integrahead engine sucks.

81 GMC 2wd 3 on tree, long bed standard cab. I’d have to replace the AM only radio and single dash speaker with something more modern. Mileage sucked. Power sucked, rust sucked.

I'd be tickled to have it back, shiny yellow, black interior and no rust. But it would not perform like the two cars I have now (435i and Genesis Coupe - Trak model).

I get pissed now when I'm driving the truck, the wife's car or the Expedition in every situation where I know one of the cars would do it better.

My first car was a black 1987 dodge raider (2 door Mitsubishi montero)

The seats had suspension like a big truck. It had lockers, bfg all terrain tires and a great stereo. I could live with it but not having a 3/4 or 1 ton pickup with two farms would be a deal killer.

I'd love my old Mercedes back if everything actually worked on it (most notably the motor

). '81 diesel in black with the nice painted logo wheels and everything. Looked like it belonged outside an embassy in west Berlin, sounded like a delivery truck. Bad luck with motors though, only 292k miles on it when the second one quit...

1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 2dr, red. Can't remember if if was a 305 or 350, no difference as they were both weak. Add the 2.41 rear gear and 55mph was a very low rpm while 0-60mph was measured with a sundial.

I'd be cool with it, toss the kids in back and wife up front. They wouldn't like not having their own doors, but 95% of the time it's just me.
