The last Democrat who served on active duty in the US military. On a submarine, no less.

Military service should be a requirement to be POTUS. Just like being a "natural" born citizen.

I met him and talked to him and his wife twice, both after his presidency.

Of course they are rich and his peanut farming was just running the multimillion $ business, not the actual farming, but they seemed to treat people with respect and was the last dem president that valued family and was proud of this country. He actually has a moral foundation.

I think he was misguided in many policies but he loved this country instead of hating it like the dems since

Thanks just like my opinion man.

Jimmy Carter's smiling, man-of-the-people image that saw him carry his own luggage was 'all show', say ex-Secret Service agents who claim ex-president was 'rude and short' and 'talked down' to soldiers

- Secret Service agents revealed Jimmy Carter, 98, who has announced he is entering hospice care at home, was nothing like his smiling, friendly image
- Behind the scenes, the 39th president would treat his secret service detail like they 'weren't there' or 'were bothering him', and 'talked down to the military'
- Despite his 'phony' public façade, Carter is being hailed as a humble president who championed the working man, as he lives out his final days in hospice care

That article backs up something I was told, by a gubbermint man on Carter's detail, back in the late 80s.  He said it was worst when they were in Plains, GA (remember, this was pre-cellphone and no cameras).  Said Carter would not speak to them, or acknowledge them in any way. At best he treated them like the lowest of field hands.

One day, Carter's people set up a fake, photo-op. A paper boy on a bicycle was supposed to come by and throw the local rag in the yard (odd even then . . . almost all papers were thrown from cars). Carter was to come out to get it (perfectly coiffed in bathrobe and with coffee) so the network news cameras could film how homespun and normal he was.  All scripted and all phony . . . ("look!  He goes out and gets his own paper! He's just ol' Jimmy from Plains").

SS guy said the kid's aim was off a little, and they were initially told to bring the paper up and put it right by the front door.  That way, Jimmy wouldn't have to walk so far down the sidewalk and be exposed to his "inferiors.".

Instead, they moved it further away, just to piss him off.  He glared at them when he saw the paper wasn't two feet away, but the TV cameras were already on . The SS guys just smiled and said,  "good morning. Mr. President."

A small matter . . . and all those guys would have done their duty and taken a bullet for the jerk . . . but they didn't have to like him.

Then again - they had it easy - they could blame everything on Bush and Trump.  Carter only had Ford to bitch about, and he didn’t do enough that anyone could really blame him for anything.

Twice.

Well, the jokes on Carter once again if he believes that.  Carter’s been out of office so long people generally forget about him now that Hussein and Biden are more current.  Once Peanut gets mentioned, the argument about who was worse starts again, so that means he’s still a strong challenger.

In four years of being president he did two good things. Allowed home brewing and fermentation of beer and wine and somehow managed to not give away the Erie Canal.

Other than that, his policies led us to where we are now. He may have lost the title as worst president, but I still believe he and his administration caused the most damage to this country in recent history.

I also hope he has a peaceful passing.

And North Korea when Clinton was in office.  Clinton sucked, but he was rightfully pissed when Carter negotiated without authorization.  Carter did this sort of thing while other politicians knew it was a complete waste of time.  He wanted the publicity ops but accomplished nothing in the process.  Literally anyone can make a deal with someone if you don’t care if it’s followed through with.

And don't forget how he destroyed the Shah of Iran and replaced the Pahlavi régime with the Ayatollah Khomeini, starting the radical Islamization of the entire region that we have paid for in money and blood ever since, starting with our embassy in Tehran.

Of course, we must include the sabotage of Rhodesia and South Africa on his list of accomplishments, resulting in ongoing genocide against whites.

China now controls both ends of what had been OUR Panama Canal, which he divested us of.

OH...I almost forgot Cambodia:

The Carter administration began supporting the Khmer Rouge, who had been relegated to remote rural sections of the country, by financial and diplomatic means. Carter’s national security adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski reportedly told an American journalist he “encouraged the Chinese to support Pol Pot… Pol Pot was an abomination. We could never support him, but China could.”
