By Alisa Orlova for Kyiv Post Published Oct. 13 at 4:57 pm EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell warned Moscow on Thursday, Oct.13, that its forces would be "annihilated" by the West's military response if President Vladimir Putin uses nuclear weapons against Ukraine. "Putin is saying he is not bluffing. Well, he cannot afford bluffing, and it has to be clear that the people supporting Ukraine and the European Union and the Member States, and the United States and NATO are not bluffing neither," Borrell said at the opening of a Diplomatic Academy in Brussels. "Any nuclear attack against Ukraine will create an answer, not a nuclear answer but such a powerful answer from the military side that the Russian Army will be annihilated." Fears that Moscow could use a tactical nuclear weapon in Ukraine have grown after Putin issued veiled threats as he staged the annexation of four occupied regions in the face of loses on the battlefield. NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg has warned Russia it faces "severe consequences" if it launches a nuclear attack on its pro-Western neighbor. "There would be a sharp response almost certainly drawing a physical response from many allies, and potentially from NATO itself," a senior NATO official said Wednesday. But the alliance has stopped short of threatening to use its nuclear arsenal to respond as non-member Ukraine is not covered by its self-defence clause. Gen. Petreus said the same thing last week. View Quote In my mind Putin wouldn't use nukes until that's already happened. |

A single operator could feed several of the wooden duplication lathes (19th century tech) and turn out a lot of them. Just a guess, I am no expert, but I have seen wooden duplication lathes operate (at Silver Dollar City) and they are pretty slick. |

Russian Army Will Be 'Annihilated' If Putin Nukes Ukraine: Borrell Russian Army Will Be 'Annihilated' If Putin Nukes Ukraine: Borrell By AFP - Agence France PresseOctober 13, 2022 ADDS Stoltenberg comments EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell warned Moscow on Thursday its forces would be "annihilated" by the West's military response if President Vladimir Putin uses nuclear weapons against Ukraine. "Putin is saying he is not bluffing. Well, he cannot afford bluffing, and it has to be clear that the people supporting Ukraine and the European Union and the Member States, and the United States and NATO are not bluffing neither," Borrell said at the opening of a Diplomatic Academy in Belgium. "Any nuclear attack against Ukraine will create an answer, not a nuclear answer but such a powerful answer from the military side that the Russian Army will be annihilated." Fears that Moscow could use a tactical nuclear weapon in Ukraine have grown after Putin issued veiled threats as he staged the annexation of four occupied regions in the face of losses on the battlefield. NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg has warned Russia of "severe consequences" if it launches a nuclear attack on its pro-Western neighbour. "We will not go into exactly how we will respond but of course, this will fundamentally changed the nature of the conflict," Stoltenberg said. "Even any use of smaller nuclear weapons will be a very serious thing." A senior NATO official on Wednesday said that use of a nuclear weapon by Russia in Ukraine would result in "almost certainly drawing a physical response from many allies, and potentially from NATO itself". The alliance has stopped short of threatening to use its nuclear arsenal to respond as non-member Ukraine is not covered by its mutual self-defence clause. The US and NATO has so far steered clear of intervening militarily in the Ukraine conflict for fear of sparking a catastrophic nuclear conflict with Moscow. "The fundamental purpose of NATO's nuclear deterrent is to preserve peace and deter aggression and prevent coercion against NATO allies," Stoltenberg said. "Circumstances in which NATO might have to use nuclear weapons are extremely remote." |

There is a movie about exactly that. "Mr. Jones" Very strangely, it was up on Netflix for about a week (where I saw it) but now it's been taken down. It seems...strange it suddenly disappeared after being in the top 10 and is "Not available in your country." Ugh, weird to say the least. Anyhow, it's a pretty haunting movie in the same vain as Schindler's List, but it is worth a watch. Some of the scenes are just downright horrifying, but I think they did their best to depict the real suffering of starvation and how bad Stalin was. |
