It was in stark contrast to the US at a time when our history and culture were under constant criticism and attack, especially by our own politicians. Maybe some other conservatives got their favorable view of Putin in the same way. All that went away on Feb 24th and I dont know how anyone could look at Putin now with admiration. |

The issue is more than bad choices or incompetence, like with Afghanistan. They are implying - I am pretty sure - genuine treason. I have heard whispers that the very early days of the 2022 invasion were enabled by treason of quite a few officials, particularly in the south and the loss of most of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts. The story wrt the Anotonov execs is two-fold, a) they hindered pre-invasion attempts to co-ordinate airport defense and troop deployment, and b) on 2/24, with the Mirya actually fueled, crewed, and engines turning, they refused to let it fly to their alternate base in Leipzig, Germany. They apparently made the crew shut it down and leave it at Hostomel to await the Russians. I have been waiting/looking a long time for a story about the Southern front and collapse to find out if similar mechanisms were at play. |

So much of what you read on this site or the internet as a whole is based around people unhappy with their own life. Fantasizing about resets and civil war is a prime example. Tribalism is a coping mechanism that simplifies and assigns all of life’s issues to a singular political boogeyman. It challenges the faith when that boogeyman seemingly does good. It has to be a trick, fake, or for some other reason. |
