Ukrainians never swore any allegiance to Hitler. In the first month Ukrainians agreed to kill communists if they were given weapons, after one month, the Germans started killing Ukrainian leaders who were involved in the Ukrainian independence movements. Hitler also gave his ally Hungary the green light to take Carpathian-Ukraine and stomp out the resistance movement there - the one my great uncle went to join. Hitler always intended to use Ukrainians as slaves for farming. |

Russia is then going to "control" Ukraine, and have to deal with Urban insurgencies. The cost of that is probably too high for Putin and Russia, but who the fuck knows. The most likely and logical scenario is taking chunks of land in Eastern Ukraine. That would still be a disaster for all involved. Russia should by all measure be able to roll right over Ukraine, but I don't have all that much confidence in Russian troops. I think they will take some serious casualties, but either way, Putin's future will be over. The international community will come down hard and Russia will have to get rid of him if they want to keep their economy moving. Just my opinion. Okay, look at a map. Ukraine is only second to Russia as far as size of a country in Europe. Ukraine is larger than France with 42 million people who hate Putin. How exactly is he going to "roll in" and take the whole country? I meant roll right over the Ukraine military lines, I don't think there is a way to take or occupy that much country, but I would imagine Russian air, artillery, rockets, and EW would make it really hard for Ukraine to do much to stop them for the first few hundred kilometers. |

How come CSTO is allowed to recruit but NATO isn't? (How come no one is joining CSTO?) https://tass.com/pressreview/1404083 The Russian leader tried to put an end to the current escalation, and as a demonstration of good will, he made it clear that he would refrain from recognizing the Donbass republics so far for the sake of implementing the Minsk agreements. View Quote What? "I won't recognize the republics I created by invading in 2014 to end escalation." Also, what was the order of operation of escalation? US deployed 6k troops to Poland so Russia responded by pulling 70% of their armed forces, over 100,000 troops some from 3,000 miles away over a period of several months as response? Or do I have that backwards? Wait, literally the same article... According to Lavrov’s further comments, Russia deliberately flexed its military muscle, so that the West wouldn’t doubt its serious stance. Hence, amid large-scale military exercises, Moscow handed over proposals on security guarantees to the US and NATO, which included demands that NATO drop plans to expand eastward, a ban on the deployment of strike systems in Europe as well as the withdrawal of NATO forces to the positions of 1997. View Quote So Russia escalated? TASS is worse than GD when it comes to coherence, that is astounding. Oh, and again, CSTO can accept any nation but NATO must move back to 1997. https://tass.com/politics/1403861 MOSCOW, February 15. /TASS/. Russia cannot turn a blind eye on the fact that the United States and NATO are interpreting the principle of indivisible security "quite freely and for their own benefit," Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Tuesday after talks with visiting German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. "Russia cannot turn a blind eye on how the United States and the North Atlantic Alliance are interpreting, quite freely and for their own benefit, the key principles of equal and indivisible security, which are committed to paper in many European documents," he said. He recalled that this principle includes not only the right to choose ways of ensuring own security and join any military unions or alliances, but also the liability not to strengthen one’s security at the expense of the security of other countries. He noted that although under article 10 of the 1949 North Atlantic Treaty the alliance is free to invite other countries, it is not obliged to do it. Putin said they "frankly exchanged views" with Scholz on the situation around Russia’s proposals on security guarantees. "We also spoke about [Moscow’s] basic demands, the most essential of which are to stop NATO’s further eastwards expansion, not to deploy offensive weapons near Russian borders and to return the bloc’s military potential and infrastructure in Europe to the state of 1997 when the Russia-NATO Founding Act was signed," Putin said. View Quote Acknowledges the right for nations to choose their own destiny. Implies NATO is deploying offensive weapons near Russian borders. Like iskanders? Zircon? Poseidon? Zakharova pointed out that "the condition of the people, their morale is of importance, since regretfully any abrupt move, including along the line of contact, any shot, any provocation, may eventually lead to some fatal consequences". View Quote Wow, talk about back handed threat. This strategy is nothing new to us," Matviyenko continued. View Quote Fuck me. Russia and Belarus can position troops however they want within their borders. "Urkain" can't? "Our stance has been clearly defined by the Russian leader: we, on our part, will do everything to prevent a war with Ukraine, to make sure that it never starts - not today, not tomorrow, not the day after tomorrow," the speaker of the Russian parliament’s upper house said in an interview with Russia’s Parlamentskaya Gazeta.
