I was alone in a record store (summer 1977?) and this was playing on the sound system. I got a case of the giggles really bad, embarrassing. Stepped outside the store then returned a bit later and bought the album.

More Ohio pride, he was originally from Akron. If I'm not mistaken, I think I saw that he was playing at one of the lower grade bars in the industrial south Akron area in the 70s or 80s.

Time for me to hit the sack, thanks to everyone for the great tunes.

And continuing with our usual very high standards, some of the most eclectic music in all of arfcom land.

Was sitting in the only bar on Beaver Island in lake michigan. A guy walked in who had just walked off a boat
aka quit his job on a big freighter. Proceeded to play that whole freddy fender album. Needless to say I was indoctrinated.

@TheYellowThing

Those are some great albums! That's a cool Jimmy Smith album... when I think of the Jimmy Smith (and Jimmy Smith & Wes Montgomery) albums I gave up. Painful. Also, Lou Donaldson, Jimmy McGriff, Brother Jack McDuff, etc. And the soul stuff - I literally had 15 James Brown albums that were also part of the approximately 600 I sold.

It absolutely does. I have a master's in theology from an Orthodox seminary, however was never ordained a priest. One of the reasons I have believed in the existence of God back as far as I can remember is what music does for the soul...and the mind, spirit...and if it's funky enough, the body.
