I clicked expecting to find circa 1990s two door manual transmission Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais Internationals and similar obscurity. Instead I find tons of cars that everyone has always wanted, or started wanting after they were put in video games.

ETA: In the spirit of no free rides… I’ll take a post 1987 Saab 900SPG three door. If I can have a euro model I want the Saab 900 Turbo 16 Aero.

ETA2: A 1979 El Camino Royal Knight would be fun and annoy my family members. Of course it would get a lot of modifications.

My grandma had a 1990 GMC Jimmy, blue with a blue interior. She drove it like a bat out of hell. Got totalled trying to make it to the water department office at the last minute.

I wanted a black 04 marauder. The marauder I could afford was a black 99 P71 crown Vic interceptor. That got me into the panther platform chassis.

Fun cars, but, as they shared no parts with any other Datsun vehicle, finding parts is a bitch!

But I'd love to have one of these (convert and / or hardtop):

I have several "dream cars" but they're mostly the same as what a lot of people like. I do have a soft spot for the Lambo Jalpa though. Seems they're pretty much forgotten due to the Countach and other later models' success:

I had a 97 5spd black leather the color was red pearl metallic which is a dark brownish/purple. It has white face gauges and a sunroof. Installed a cold air intake, short shifter, ud crank pulley, full exhaust (no cat), lowered, aftermarket gun metal wheels and an r33 style body kit and debagged. Loved that car and always wanted a sc for it

Probably closer to OP's criteria, there are two or three of these Willys Wagons in pretty rough shape sitting grouped by the side of the highway between CDA and Sandpoint. Every time I drive by I think damn, that would make one of the coolest resto-mods ever. The building they're sitting next to is rough, too, can't imagine anyone is jumping at them.

At least I think that's the correct model. Very close...one of them has the faux wood sides. I have to make my bi-monthly trek on Tuesday, might stop and try to get a picture if I can do it without getting run over by a logging truck.

I used to know a guy who worked at a custom shop where they swapped a V8 into a 1st-gen Toyota MR2. That thing was scary fast. Damn engine weighed almost as much as the car, itself, lol. And he drove it like he was always in a race. Granted, it was easy to go fast in that thing. He said brakes and tires were the 2 things that got worn out the quickest. And I can imagine why. They upgraded the suspension, too; but I'm not sure what they did to it. I'm assuming adjustable coil-overs, but I never got a look at it. I know the brakes were slotted, and the tires were something really soft so it would hold to the road better than off-the-rack street tires. They may have been a lower-tier race tire, I'm not sure. The cool thing about it is that it looked stock from the outside. And the interior was left as stock as possible. They swapped the seats for racing seats with 5-point harnesses. But other than that, everything else was pretty much left alone.

Not quite, a SBC only weighs just over 400lbs, and that car weighs 2150lbs.

I bet that thing was stupid quick though, if the engine was built at all, if not a stock SBC only made around 200hp in stock form.

Top speed for a stock ICE Smart Car is quoted at 96 mph, but I got passed by one on the Autobahn while I was doing right at 100. He didn't blow by me, but he wasn't dawdling, either. I wasn't so much impressed that someone had hopped one up as the fact they'd drive it that fast over distance.

I used to build race engines for Suzuki Samurai's, and still have the last one I built in my current factory hard top.

My Samurai will go about 115mph before I chicken out, but it drives like a brand-new vehicle because I built it myself.

It has 168hp, but it only weighs 2300lbs, so it goes pretty well for a Samurai. I've surprised quite a few Honda boys over the years.

1st gen MazdaSpeed3 ... I want mine back!  I had a one like the image below with a little work done to it (shocks/tune/cai/brakes, etc)  and absolutely loved that car.  BUT, it couldn't fit 2 - rear facing car seats so we had to get a bigger family friendly car.
