I wear one of these all day. It carries 1000oz of water and my survival gear. Your jug can't do that.

7.8 gallons is a bit overkill, jesus
I wish I'd gotten that one.

I carried around a gallon of drinking water and ate entire packages of nuked pre-cooked chicken breast daily during college. Most efficient way to maintain playing weight with two workouts, practice and class/studyhall every day.

I used one of these every day for over two decades of construction and agricultural work.  I purchase a new one roughly every 5-7ish years, depending on how beat up they get.  Costs me $15, and refill water is free.  It's even insulated so my water stays icy cold.

I don't get the gallon milk jug thing.

I bought one of these Yeti clones last weekend for $10.86, I see the price has gone up.
They stay cold for a long time, I haven't decided if it should be a beer growler or a water jug.
OT 64 oz.

I see WM still has the 36 oz. for $8.66.

This trend was started by truckers that carry around piss jugs because they couldn't get used to piss in an actual bathroom.  The more you know!

Most people dont drink the recommended amount of water a day. I know my folks dont. My mother usually drinks 16 of water a day, my father might drink 12.
Even the buddy who had the stomach bypass done drinks less than 10oz a day.

The human body can go many days without food.  Try the same without water.

8 cups a day is recommended as a minimum. Unless otherwise stated by your Dr.  That is what my dad os getting at the hospital.

Need some correlation between this thread where people haul around a day's supply of water at all times in an urban environment, and the thread where people find a 2.5" long flashlight that weighs a half ounce too bothersome.

16 ounce bottles cost  dime each

Hydrate or die, right? Always wear fresh socks.

This isn't a new thing. This has been going on for decades. Most lifters aim for 1 gallon of water a day. You carry your hug around with you and make sure it's finished by the end of the day. That way you know if you drank a gallon or not.

I do that, but I use it as a gauge.

I know if I haven't drank at least half by lunch time then I am under hydrated, but I also sweat a lot while working too, so dehydration can be a real problem.

I also keep a 5 gallon cooler in the back of the truck for anyone else on site to use if they need water.

Friday is going to be a hard day, I'll probably drink over a gallon before it's over.

The things that trigger you guys

It's a cheap and convenient way to keep a bunch of water on hand, simple as that. At work the nearest water fountain is on the other side of the building about a 1/4 mile away from my welding booth. I'm not walking back and forth sevral times a day to refill a bottle.

Lol at the lightweights who only drink a gallon a day. I easily kill a 30 ounce bottle of water in a few sips. Thirsty again a few minutes later.

Bunch of shit talkers in here with pallets of water jugs at the BOL or Scepter cans of water in the BOV but hate on a dude for carrying one around with him to sip from

The jugs are practically free and being well hydrated has health benefits, especially if you're taking supplements. The jug vessel makes it easier to follow along vs taking sips from the fountain where you could be under or over hydrating.

Don't get the hate.

I find the folks with their showy hydration amusing.  It is if they are the first people in the world who discovered water, and now they want to show the rest of the world how very hydrated they are.  How do they think athletes managed to survive for the past 3000 years?  Folks have known about water long before the current crop of ultra-hydrators came along.  Get over yourselves.

I am if the firm belief that at the core of nearly every single ailment, even many injuries, is dehydration. Sinus infection? Dehydrated and your sinuses dried out allowing things that normally would not effect you make you sick. You must stay extremely hydrated for your immune system to function fully.  Pulled a muscle? Dehydrated. Water is like oil for your muscles and joints. Years of regular dehydration will cause you all kinds of health issues.

I use old juice bottles.  They hold up better than milk jugs.

I go to the gym but I use a water bottle or the fountain at the gym.  At home, I use the jug.  I want water.  Having a large supply helps me drink more and stay hydrated.

It’s a diet thing, you drink one gallon of water a day. Eaiser to monitor your intake if you fill up a gallon in the morning. It actually works for losing a few pounds according to my gym rat friends.

One weightlifter here mixes some protein powder in his and sips on it all day.

I used to drink from gallon jugs but I was framing houses in the Minnesota summer heat.  Freeze it the night before, keep in shade, drink what melted at break, again at lunch, have a couple of sips of cold water in the afternoon, and have another drink when the tools were put away and have just enough nice cold water left to splash in my face and wash the funk off my hands at the end of the day before getting in the car.

The idea is to drink an entire gallon by 1pm, then piss back into the jug until 6pm.  Subtract the difference and divide by your body weight to determine your overall hydration.  Rinse & repeat.

I have one of these at home and one at work.  Couldn't tell you how many I go through a day, but they're insulated and keep the water cold.  Started using these after I got severely dehydrated working an extrication back when I was a volunteer FF.

Side note, chewing lots of Trident gum makes you really thirsty.
