After not liking dots for a while, I have finally come around. Only 3 range sessions so far, but making progress. Will be a while before I am as accurate as I want to be with the dot, but practice & dry fire are key. ;)
So much so that I am now thinking about sending my XD-M Elite slide out for milling so I can slap a dot on that too |

Dots take a good shooter and make them even better. I resisted the dot for a long time. Now, all my Glocks (12) have dots.
I shot my CCW course last weekend. I was so incredibly accurate, two of the rangemasters fist bumped me afterward. Dots are game changers. Wait until you do a nightshoot with a dot. It is 10x better than tritium sights. |

This is the third G19 with RMR I have. Just got the slide back from Wager Machine. I thought I was done with gen 3s but a $350 new in box pistol was too hard to pass up. Scored this mint RM07 off the EE for $325. And the TLR7 was $75. Can't beat it for that price.

I want to want a dot so badly, but it just seems like they aren’t there yet. I can’t understand why people are OK with an open emitter on a carry gun and the close emitter stuff seems huge.

You are really just making excuses. |

View Quote I think that’s mostly a fair assessment - I worry that the size of an acro would make it more difficult to carry, but that’s conjecture since I’ve never tried. I think I’m just hoping I can be talked into it |

Big dots and larger windows are awesome. I'd even go so far as to say they would be a good training aid for someone new to red dots or for someone with astigmatism. Yes, you can make a small dot bloom and appear larger but it will look like a huge spaghetti monster to many. With a larger perceived dot, you can dial down the brightness and and keep the reticle looking much cleaner.

This is 4 minutes of solid gold and I've found this to be 100% true. In fact I've started challenging myself in practice to do this:
"You want to get to where you're comfortable with the red dot leaving your awareness." Watch the eyes |

I have a Glock or two I want to send out for optic cuts. Do you guys pay to have the cut refinished or leave it bare and do it yourself with cold blue, spray paint, or rainbow glitter? If I pay to refinish it, it’s dang near $225 for the cheapest option.
