I think the low profiles would look like shit on my car.

People have been getting wheels and tires on muscle cars wrong for forty years, in the seventies and eighties the style was to get the widest possible tires on the back, and the thinnest tires on the front. Of course in those days low profile tires hadn't become common yet, to the tools would have 315/70/15 tires with four inches sticking out of either side of the back of their Transmaro.

Yep!  We called that the "pizza cutter" look.

It single-handedly kept Gabriel (the company who made those air-adjustable shocks) in business!

I don't even remember the last time I saw a set of Cragars.

It comes down to the specific application and what the owner is trying to accomplish.  Both sides have valid points.  End of argument.

F'up paint and ghetto trash wheels ( Imhbo) not a fan.

I had a '67 fastback mustang that was in Grassroots motorsports back in 2005. About 30% of the people would ask me "when are you going to flame it" or "why don't you make an Elanore out of it" I tried not to bunch the 'tards in the face.

If it's got something like a g-machine's chassis and it's got the brakes to necessitate 18 inch wheels.

I'm okay with it.

If this is what lurks under a 1st Gen Camaro body, yeah, I'll play the big wheels game(even though much over 17-18 inches is NOT needed).

http://www.gmachinechassis.com/gm.aspx

Or something like this that is a combination of modern road race technology mixed with old muscle looks.

http://www.schwartzperformance.com/projects.aspx

If it's something like a classic kept car where somebody just threw some stupid pimped out tires/wheels on it.   No, not cool with it.

Those rims are not functional.  Here is a photo that the SRT team at Dodge used in the 2008 One Lap of America.    They used Foose made rims. Styled after the rims used on the original Challenger but rolling on 20's. After running the second lap at Road America Erich didn't have brakes as these Foose rims didn't provide enough brake cooling and you see what happened.  Going into turn one the brake pedal went to the floor.

I seriously wonder if they've ever had some dude do that?

Poor guy is just waiting to get his 'baby' restored to factory condition, and his gf/wife/brother gives it to Foose to play with.

To each his own... I've always preferred a more "period correct" look. When I wanted to upgrade from stock steel wheels, it took a while to find a set of original '73 Mustang slotted aluminum wheels, but I thought it was worth the wait.

Depends on what you're after, of course. If I really wanted better handling, these probably wouldn't be the way to go.

Wheel Vintiques makes 16 to 18' Rally's for the Chevy's and does so in 5 and 6 lug with standard and custom spacing, they look awesome and are a great way to give your bowtie the old school look and allow room for much more serious braking.

I hate modern wheels on old muscle cars.  And Chip Foose should be strung up by his balls and kicked in the face.

I'm OK with modernizing the engine, suspension, brakes, etc. but it should look correct on a stock looking car.  For a modified car, go for whatever you want.

Exactly...but all these Foose cars people are bitching about aren't being restored to the factory look...

They are heavily modified for that street rod look that pretty much would look horrible with factory rims and tires...
