Back when I used to change my own oil, we also drank a lot of OJ. Tropicana 1-gallon jugs were perfect for that.

5 gallon bucket with spouted lid. Oil came in it originally so it seals well. 5 gallons is the most that the auto parts store will take at one time anyways.

5 gallon metal "Gerry" can. When it gets full I take it to work and pour it in the used oil tank.
Hopefully the guys here posting about pouring it down the storm drain or in the ground are just kidding. |

I use the empty jugs from the new oil.
I then dump those at the AutoZone a couple miles from my house. |

I scored like 10 5 gal preban gas cans at an estate sale for $10 each a while back. I've repurposed my POS EPA compliant 5 gal can to waste oil duty.

Only doing my own oil changes for ten years now. But I drain into this and then just pour this into the 5gal container the new motor oil came in. Go to auto parts store and drop the 5 gal container off. Bing bam done. Nothing fancy and it works.

Some of you guys are a friggin riot.
Also some good ideas here. I tried the milk jug thing but had a couple blow out on the way to the parts store for drop off once. The thin walls somehow managed to get cracks and that was all she wrote. Couple gallons of oil spilled in the back of the truck.

My wife found something like these at Menards a couple of weeks ago for $5.99 each being clearanced out. We now have two, along with 20 inserts. I'm not sure if it's exactly the same as what's pictured on Amazon (don't recall the brand), but it looks identical. I've used it to change the lawn mower oil and it's awesome...just don't forget to pull the yellow plug before you start or you'll be wondering why your disposable liner is filling up so quickly.

Also, I guarantee that they aren't using quality oil and filters. You are getting bargain bin dino and fram unless otherwise specified. |

These. They have a screw on lid and a vent. I have two sitting around. When one is full I take it in to get dumped and I use the other in the meantime.

Old metal 5 gallon can labeled “DuPont” and “Freon”. My dad used it for used motor oil for eons and now I use it.

I used to have 30 gal storage container, one day it started leaking. I emptied it out and recycled the oil. Tossed the container. I use the 5 qt jug that the oil came in, recycle it and toss in trash can. I rarely keep them beyond one oil change. I wish I had a smudge pot to burn it in and use the heat for something else during winter.

This site and their love for the environment they live in, I swear. I use 5 gal bucket with a lid. City recycling center is only a couple miles away with a big collection station. Auto parts places will take it too. The containers in your link work too, just don't fill them full. 5 qt jugs work well too. |

Milk jugs (1/2 and 1 gallon). Has to be in a see-through container for the curb side pickup.
But now I switched to almond milk and this comes in cartons...Looking for a source. |

55 gal drum. Then when it is full I take it to the garbage dump and they suck it out of the drum. They sell it and use the money to help pay to run the dump, they don't give you any money for it but they enter you in a draw to win prizes.
