Many units do use the Larue mount.  When I was with 1st Tks in AFG every M4 had a Larue on it.  The guys from 2nd Tks had the standard Trijicon mount.

All infantry like units (meaning not just infantry but division units on the active forces and limited amounts of reserves) are suppose to transition to Larue mount and EREK (Eye Relief Extension  Kits)

So all the Pogues will have them and the Infantry will get the hand me downs?  When can I expected liberated EREK units on Ebay?

Picked up a complete BCM A4 rifle from a guy locally this morning. Pretty sweet. Haven't gotten a chance to mess with it much, but it has a look and feel all it's own when you're used to 14.5-16" carbines.

I know it's the wrong model ACOG but it's good enough for me for now.

Here's by build.  It's my first personal AR and evolved into this.  I don't have an ACOG or proper BUIS, but I'll get there eventually.  For now it's a vortex sparc as a placeholder.

There's something you don't see often

"Marines with Provost Marshal's Office, Headquarters & Headquarters Squadron Special Reaction Team (SRT) ready their rifles at a range at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona as part of their monthly training.

Special Reaction Teams are the Corps' in-house SWAT teams. They deal with scenarios too dangerous or specialized for their regular Military Police colleagues.

These SRT operators are armed with M16A4 5.56mm x 45mm assault rifles fitted with SU-231 holographic sights. Their secondary weapons are M45a1 CQBP .45 ACP pistols in Safariland holsters on their hips. They are wearing tan fire-retardant flight suits, of the sort typically worn by USMC aircrew, Impact Sport ear defenders and Wiley X combat gloves."

FWIW, it looks like they're using late-version 552s, not 553/SU-231s.

Also, I can't help but feel sorry for them, being stuck with muskets on SRT with RDS.

I never saw a 553 while I was in the Corps.  I did see some individuals using 512s, one unit issued 516s.

Oh yeah that's Def not a 553 I know, but inspiring enough :)

Now if I can just find a photo of an M16A4 with an LMT rear I'll be good to go.

The 552 was issued as the SL3 to the M4A1 CQBW suite

2nd RADBN issue a lot of 553 back in 07-08 but the 552s were real popular with for longest times when units could buy sights without SYSCOM getting involved, with 24 MEU and 1/7 almost buying 1 per Marine in the 06 time frame.

The number of M45A1s purchased was based on total number of CSOs, Force Recon and SRT BICs in the Marine Corps

I have both the removable carry handle and the mil spec trigger guard, just didn't have them on at that particular time.  I've since changed it again and got rid of the Vortex Sparc and put a Primary Arms 1-6x on it.  I'll see if I can't get a picture together tomorrow of the setup.

To what are you referring when you say A1 profile? M4A1? I would almost wager that it is M4A1 profile since FN makes the M4A1 for the military.

Anyone know a source for a great price on the correct ACOG? A TA31F or  TA31RCOA4CP, correct? I keep watching for some on sale but haven't found any sweet deals yet. I'd love to buy a slightly used one but the chance of getting a fake is probably not worth the risk.

Since it's a picture thread, here's mine:

What branch were you? I believe that is a USMC bayonet and the M9 is the issue Army bayonet. A lot of early stuff was still being issued in '02 so I wouldn't be surprised if the M7 was issued to you despite being replaced. Bayonets aren't really considered very important these days. The marines who fought in Fallujah will say otherwise
