I was helping a friend paint his rifle tonight and decided to add some sponge marks to my Block II:

Good to know, nice to have knowledge like this on the forum. Looks like the ir illum in a light is not as important. Thanks

No prob dude. But yeah the biggest pro I could see for having IR on a weaponlight (assuming you have a PEQ-15 of course) would be to pop off the weaponlight and use it as a handheld while using NVGs

Freakin' awesome.

While I have no problem "Skilcrafting" (Kryloning) a gun, especially one that isn't mine, I have yet to try the sponge technique.

It definitely yields fantastic results...when done correctly.

It's been there the whole time, I just never took pictures showing the raised adjustment knobs until now. A keen eye would have observed the lack of safety screws on the side, as well as a few other minor differences.

That's why I got an elcan, best of both worlds! Would still like to try a cqbss though.

Oh, and I'll take that stubby off of your hands

did you have to zoom in on the 1 part I currently need?

Milspec needs a front sight. Might even just temporarily to try hunt down a blasphemous MBUS front until I can afford another 99051

Haha agreed, that is going to have to wait on my end as well. I think a light is more important.
Were rear sights run with an elcan? I don't see how as you need this thing back pretty far. Better eye relief than an acog but not by much.

We've seen rear sights and no rear sights with the Elcan. You don't really need it tho as you'll have the rain sights or a Docter/MRDS piggybacked. But I personally would throw a Matech or KAC under it just out of a preparedness/not worried about weight paranoia/train of thought

Good point, weight isn't of much concern now, pretty sure we are ending up with 9lb rifles with everything on them. I'll run without for now, I'm low on funds and don't have a front sight yet

Holyyyy sheet. That's a heavy carbine! A mk12 weighs about the same. I'm sure an elcan is a half pound heavier than that acog too

Gents, I don't check on this thread too much but figured I'd cross post this from the recce thread to get your take on a rifle seen in a video. Some of you guys are pro detectives on this stuff.

US soldiers help Iraqi troops secure Mosul

Hard to tell but I think it's a Block II M4. Definitely a cool setup with the 3-18 and piggybacked T1. Maybe a DAGR setup?

I'm actually wondering if it's a BFA and not an actual suppressor. If I zoom in on the little bit that's exposed it looks yellow.

Interesting setup! At that point it's almost a shorter and lighter mk12.  Not sure how accuracy would compare past 400m or so though. These barrels are supposedly pretty accurate from what I've seen.
